Pickering, ON – The Pickering Panthers are pleased to announce key leadership changes ahead of the upcoming season.
Sean Meyers has been appointed as the team’s general manager. Meyers has spent the last two seasons as the Panthers’ director of scouting and player development. He also serves as head of scouting and recruiting with Queen’s University Men’s Hockey and has previous experience as an OHL draft scout.
“I’ve really enjoyed the last two seasons in Pickering. I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity to continue helping with the development of this team and hockey program,” said Meyers. “I look forward to continuing to work with the players and staff, with the goal of competing for an OJHL championship.”
Connor Armour has been named head coach. Armour, a former player with the Cobourg Cougars and Adrian College, most recently served as head coach of the Cobourg Cougars (OJHL) last season, leading the team to a conference finals appearance and having a player drafted into the NHL. His previous coaching experience includes time with the Port Hope Panthers.
“I’d like to thank ownership for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to helping players develop both on and off the ice,” said Armour.
Mark MacAulay joins the Panthers as assistant coach. MacAulay has a background as a junior and U Sports player and most recently served as assistant coach for the Cobourg Cougars (OJHL) last season. He has also spent time coaching with the Don Mills Flyers.
“I am thrilled to join the Pickering Panthers for the upcoming season. The current staff has done an excellent job in building a competitive team, and it’s clear that the program is continuing to improve year after year. I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and helping establish a winning culture in Pickering,” said MacAulay.
The Panthers also extend their gratitude to Rob Pearson for his contributions to the organization. Under his leadership, the team won the Buckland Cup OJHL championship in 2021-22 and reached the final of the 2022 Centennial Cup. He was named OJHL Coach of the Year that same season. The team wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
These changes mark an exciting new chapter for the Pickering Panthers as the team continues to build toward success in the OJHL.
