About the Role:

The Pickering Panthers are seeking a dedicated and organized Game Day Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of the fan experience at home games. You will be responsible for coordinating logistics, managing event staff, and ensuring every game runs smoothly from setup to takedown. This is a leadership role well-suited for someone with a passion for live sports and strong operational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all game day logistics and operations
  • Supervise personnel responsible for:
    • Music and arena atmosphere
    • Scorekeeping and timekeeping
    • Public Address (PA) announcing
    • Ushers and ticketing staff
    • Game day volunteers and support crew
  • Coordinate with arena staff, security, and team officials
  • Manage setup and takedown of signage, sponsor booths, and fan engagement areas
  • Troubleshoot issues during the event and ensure smooth game flow
  • Collaborate with the social media and marketing teams to enhance the in-arena experience
  • Conduct post-event wrap-up and reporting

Qualifications:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Experience leading volunteers or event teams preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for hockey and live event execution
  • Availability for most home games

Position: Content Creator – Social Media & Website

Commitment: Part-Time, Volunteer/Placement

Work Format: Hybrid (Remote & In-Person) – Must attend at least 50% of home games

Position Overview:

The Pickering Panthers are hiring multiple Content Creators to bring the team’s brand to life across social media and the web. This hybrid role offers flexibility to work remotely while also attending home games to capture and post real-time content. Ideal for aspiring sports media professionals looking to build their portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Game Day Content: Post pre-game hype, live score updates, and post-game recaps
  • Social Media Management: Create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X (Twitter)
  • Website Maintenance: Keep the Panthers website updated using WordPress
  • Graphic Design: Use Canva and similar tools to produce graphics and promotional visuals
  • Video Editing: Create short highlight clips or interviews as needed
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track engagement and offer insights for improvement

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook
  • Comfortable with Canva and basic video editing tools (e.g., iMovie, Premiere)
  • Familiarity with WordPress or willingness to learn
  • Solid writing and visual storytelling skills
  • Self-directed and reliable with strong attention to detail
  • Interest in sports media and live hockey coverage
  • Available to attend at least 50% of Panthers home games

Position: Game Day Support Staff

Commitment: Part-Time, Volunteer/Placement

Game Day Support Staff play a key behind-the-scenes role in ensuring everything runs smoothly on game night. From setup to teardown, you’ll help create a seamless fan experience. Great for students or volunteers looking to gain event experience in a high-energy sports environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with setup and takedown of signage, tables, and promotional areas
  • Provide support to operations manager and game day team
  • Help direct fans and deliver items as needed between benches and staff
  • Support merchandise sales, box office, or sponsor areas as required

Qualifications:

  • Friendly, reliable, and proactive
  • Willingness to pitch in wherever needed
  • Able to work on your feet for several hours
  • Available for most home games

Position: Ushers

Commitment: Part-Time, Volunteer/Placement

Role Summary:

Ushers are the first point of contact for Panthers fans. You’ll assist with ticket scanning, seating help, and ensure a welcoming, safe environment throughout the game. A perfect fit for those who enjoy working with people and being part of a game night team.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and direct fans as they arrive
  • Check tickets and assist with seating
  • Monitor crowd flow and maintain a clean, safe environment
  • Assist with fan inquiries and special accommodations

Qualifications:

  • Customer-service oriented and approachable
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods
  • Enjoy working in a team during live events
