The Panthers came out flat tonight and had a difficult time generating offence—or, more correctly, putting the puck in the net. In a game with two points sitting there for the taking, Markham came up big, and Pickering didn’t. In fact, it was looking like the Panthers might suffer another shutout defeat until Charlie Key got the lone Pickering goal on a power-play deflection from the point about 12 minutes into the third period. The Cats controlled play for much of the remaining time and pulled their goalie with about three minutes remaining but without success. Too little, too late.
Gavin Betts took the loss, making 32 saves. The boys will need to put the loss behind them, regroup, and come out strong against the Lindsay Muskies, who they meet at home in the Den Sunday night, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
