SEPTEMBER 8, 2024 – DUKES DEFEAT PANTHERS 6-1
by Bob Graham
As in the previous game, Pickering was badly outplayed in the first period and outshot 11-4, as they fell behind 2-0. However, they came to life in the second, outplaying Wellington for long stretches in the period, outshooting them 15-9 and pulling within one as Joseph Crngarov notched a power play goal before the period ended.
Nothing went right for Pickering in the third, as the Dukes scored four unanswered goals to make it a 6-1 final. Sixteen year old Gavin Betts made his OJHL debut in the Panther net, turning aside 34 shots.
Pickering will play Trenton in Trenton this Friday and return home to play the Aurora Tigers on Sunday, Sept 15th @7:30pm at Chestnut Hill Developments Complex, Pickering. Tickets are sold at the door starting one hour prior to game time.
