Forward Ethan Toms has been acquired by the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), concluding a brief but eventful return to the Pickering Panthers organization.
Toms, a 2006-born forward from Norwood, Ontario, rejoined the Panthers last week after spending more than three seasons with the Oshawa Generals, where he accumulated 144 career OHL games. In his first game back in the OJHL, Toms recorded four points, contributing significantly to Pickering’s comeback victory.
Following the game, Toms offered a measured assessment of his performance.
“I don’t think I played overly well,” Toms said. “I got a couple points, but it’s not all about points. You have to look after the D side as well.”
Toms emphasized the influence his OHL experience had on his approach to the game.
“My experience in Oshawa… trying to act like a pro every day and doing the right things on and off the ice,” he noted. “Maybe mentoring some of the younger guys on our team, showing them how to do things away from the rink and on the ice as well.”
Prior to his time in the OHL, Toms appeared in 49 career OJHL games with Pickering, registering 20 points, including a hat trick as a rookie in the 2022–23 season. His recent return added depth and experience to the Panthers lineup, albeit briefly, before the transition to Quebec.
The move to the Remparts provides Toms with a continued opportunity at the major junior level within one of the QMJHL’s most recognized franchises.
