Trenton, ON — September 13, 2024
The Pickering Panthers suffered a tough 6-0 loss to the Trenton Golden Hawks at Duncan Memorial Gardens. The Panthers struggled throughout the game, as nothing seemed to go right, perhaps owing to the ominous date. Trenton took control early, scoring one in the first period, followed by two in the second and three more in the third, outshooting Pickering 40-30. Despite the Panthers’ 30 shots on goal, they couldn’t get past Trenton’s goaltender Spry, who earned a 30-save shutout. Mauro’s power-play goal in the first put Trenton on the board, and he added another in the second, alongside a goal from Souliere. The Golden Hawks sealed the win with third-period goals from Souliere, Erwin, and Pierce.
Pickering’s goaltender, Ethan Beattie, faced a barrage of 40 shots and made 34 saves, but penalties stifled the Panthers’ momentum. The Cats failed to convert on their four power-play chances, while Trenton capitalized on one of their five.
