FRIDAY NOV 17–PICKERING 6 COBOURG 2

It was a cat fight Friday night as the Panthers welcomed the Coburg Cougars to the Den and the Panthers certainly had their claws out! Jamie Darlison got Pickering rolling in the opening minute with the first goal of the game, but that was quickly erased as Cobourg scored two goals, both resulting from Pickering miscues around their own net. The Panthers came on strong in the second and third periods. The Panthers jumped ahead 3-2 in the second on goals from Pickell and Hettiarachchi.

The Cougars seemed to get frustrated as the game progressed and the more that happened, the more penalties they took and the more Pickering added to the score. Hettiarachi, Litterick and Pickell each scored in the third to make it a 6-2 final. A big night for Darlison (1G 3A), Hettiarachchi (2G 2A), Athanasakos (3A) and Pickell (2G 3A) as the Panthers outshot Cobourg 47-20. The Cougars took 36 minutes in penalties to Pickering’s 12 and the Panthers scored 3 PP goals on 11 power plays. Eathan Beattie got his second win of the season making 18 saves.
