There was no shortage of offense in this one, and once again special teams played a major role. The Panthers scored three times on the power play and once while shorthanded, while Caledon’s lone power-play goal came with just four seconds remaining in the game.

The Admirals got off to a quick start, scoring in the opening minute. Matt Indovina tied the game with his 25th of the season, but Caledon responded to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Pickering took full advantage of Caledon penalties in the second period. Jack Dean (9th) and Evan Elliott (10th) both scored on the power play, and Jake Mallory (19th) converted a Charlie Key pass while shorthanded. Devon Ferroni added an even-strength goal late in the period to give the Panthers a 5-3 lead after two.

Ferroni scored his second of the night and ninth of the season in the third period to help seal Pickering’s 6-4 victory.

Anthony Sciere was outstanding in goal, turning aside 46 shots, several of them highlight-reel saves. Charlie Key recorded another three-assist performance, and Evan Elliott extended his point streak to seven games, including five goals over his last six outings. With the win, Pickering moved into sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of both Newmarket and Haliburton County.
