PANTHERS CONTINUE WINNING WAYS DOWNING BUZZERS 4-1
Following on from their big comeback win in their previous game, Pickering hosted the St Michaels Buzzers last night and played an entertaining, 60 minute game to earn their second W in a row. Gavin Betts was solid in net, keeping it a scoreless game until Zennon Edwards got the first goal of the game from the right circle near the midway point of the second period. Owen Dunning made it 2-0 five minutes into the third.
Things got a little heated a few minutes later when a Panther was cross checked in the back while heading into the bench. The Cats took advantage of a 5 minute major penalty to the Buzzers as Kailin Chen got a PP goal, deflecting a point shot from Darren Wilson. St Mikes got one back on a power play with about five minutes remaining and put pressure on Pickering in the last few minutes with the goalie pulled, but Owen Dunning scored his fifth of the season into an empty net to solidify the victory.
The Panthers get a well deserved rest, with their next game happening at Scotiabank Pond when they take on the Junior Canadiens, Oct. 5th at 8pm.
