September 20, 2024 – Panthers Lose 5-2 in Markham
Penalties played a big role in this game as the Panthers took 18 minutes in penalties to Markham’s 8. The Royals took advantage, connecting on two power plays in the first and another in the second. Markham jumped ahead 2-0 early in the game, but the Panthers fought back to tie it up on goals from Joey Crngarov and Jason Zhou before the Royals put their third goal on the board in the final minute of the first period.
No more goals came for Pickering as Markham added two more in the second for the 5-2 victory. Pickering played the game without a backup goalie and their new captain Quinn Binnie. Ethan Beattie took the loss in net, turning aside 31 shots.
The Panthers are heading to Niagara Falls to showcase their talent at this year’s OJHL Governors’ Showcase, presented by MilkUP! We’ll be facing the Niagara Falls Canucks on Monday, Sept 23 at 7:00 PM, and the Mississauga Chargers on Tuesday, Sept 24 at 5:00 PM.
