Pickering Panthers Announce Binnie as Captain, Chen, Zhang and Wilson as Assistants
The Boyer Auto Group Pickering Panthers are proud to announce their captains for the 2024/25 season. As the team sets its sights on a deep playoff run, these leaders will play a critical role both on and off the ice.
Captain: Quinn Binnie
Place of Birth: Gormley, ON, CAN
Age: 20 | Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 198 lbs | Position: Forward | Shoots: Right
Quinn Binnie brings experience and leadership to the Panthers, having played 103 games in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes and Mississauga Steelheads. Quinn played with the Panthers in the 2021-22 season, and this year he’s off to a strong start with 2 goals and 2 assists in the first 4 games. Drafted by the Mississauga Steelheads in 2020 (9th round, #167), Quinn’s history of hard work and determination makes him the ideal captain to lead the team. His ability to rally the locker room will be crucial as the Panthers aim for a playoff resurgence.
Assistant Captain: Kailin Chen

Kailin Chen joined the Panthers in 2023 after two seasons with the St. Michael’s Buzzers. Drafted by the Niagara IceDogs in 2020 (7th round, #122), Kailin captained China’s U20 national team, leading them to gold at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division II Group A. His international experience and leadership skills have translated well into the Panthers’ lineup. With 10 goals and 16 assists in 48 games, Kailin’s impact on the team has been felt both on the scoreboard and in the locker room.
Assistant Captain: Joey Zhang

Age: 20 | Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 181 lbs | Position: Defense | Shoots: Left
Joey Zhang has become a mainstay on the Panthers’ blue line, having played 59 games in the OJHL, including 58 with Pickering. He has amassed 30 points (8 goals, 22 assists) in the league, making him a consistent contributor from the back end. His ability to both defend and move the puck makes him a key player for the team as they look to fortify their defense in pursuit of a championship.
Assistant Captain: Darren Wilson

Age: 19 | Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 190 lbs | Position: Defense | Shoots: Left
Darren Wilson, drafted by the Peterborough Petes in 2021 (15th round, #285), joins the leadership group after three seasons with the Toronto Junior Canadiens before joining the Panthers in 22/23. With 29 points (2 goals, 27 assists) over 84 OJHL games, Darren’s playmaking ability and physical presence have earned him the respect of his teammates. His competitive nature and experience will help drive the Panthers towards their goals this season.
