Pickering – The Haliburton County Huskies entered the Den tonight with an 11-game win streak but left with that streak snapped, courtesy of a relentless Panthers squad. Pickering was full value for their 6-2 win, capitalizing on three power-play goals in the second and outstanding goaltending to pull away from the Huskies.
Jason Zhou tied the game at one midway through the first, but Haliburton answered back less than a minute later, taking a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
In the second period, Pickering took control. Joseph Cadorin kicked off the scoring with a power-play goal, followed by tallies from Quinn Binnie, Owen Dunning, and Joey Zhang. The Panthers outshot the Huskies 12-6 in the frame, applying heavy pressure and making the most of their special teams.
Pickering’s defense stayed strong in the third period, with Gavin Betts delivering several key saves to keep Haliburton off the board. Zennon Edwards added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the victory and send the fans home happy.
It’s no coincidence that the Panthers haven’t lost since the arrival of Joseph Cadorin. In his four games with Pickering, he’s notched three goals and five assists, helping the team gain traction in the Eastern Conference.
