Friday, October 31 – Pickering 6, Markham 4
It was a back-and-forth contest in Markham as the Panthers overcame a third-period deficit to earn a hard-fought 6-4 victory over the Royals. Each team scored once in the opening frame, with Charlie Key notching his ninth of the season for Pickering.
The Panthers took control early in the second when Kyle Costello tipped in a Sam Ethier shot from the point for his first goal of the season. Later in the frame, Kyle Kavc added a power-play marker — his second of the season and first as a Panther — to give Pickering a 3-2 lead heading into the intermission.
Markham jumped ahead with two quick goals early in the third, but the Panthers refused to yield. Alex Colangelo’s goal just 24 seconds after the Royals took the lead tied the game, and Vasily Serov’s seventh of the year put Pickering back in front. Key sealed the win with his second of the night, scoring into an empty net.
Anthony Sciere stopped 24 of 28 shots to earn the win in goal as Pickering improved to 8-3-0.
