Panthers Split a Pair of Weekend Games

Friday, October 24 – Trenton 7, Pickering 2
The Panthers traveled to Trenton to take on the league-leading Golden Hawks but left some of their offense behind, falling 7-2 in a tough road matchup. Trenton built a 3-0 lead before Tyler Bruce scored his third of the season in the final minute of the second period to make it 3-1. The Golden Hawks added four more goals in the third, with Vasily Serov netting the other Pickering tally.

Pickering was outshot 48–21 as Anthony Sciere faced a heavy workload, turning aside 41 shots in the loss.

Saturday, October 25 – Pickering 3, St. Michael’s 2
Saturday was a different story when the St. Michael’s Buzzers visited The Den. The game remained scoreless until the 14-minute mark of the second period, when the Panthers scored two shorthanded goals on the same penalty kill. Josh Brady opened the scoring with his fifth of the season, and just 45 seconds later, Charlie Key doubled the lead off a clever pass from behind the net by Evan Elliott. Peter Smith added his first goal as a Panther three minutes later to make it 3-0 heading into the intermission.

The Buzzers struck twice late in the third to narrow the gap, but Pickering held on for a 3-2 victory. Daniel Giusti was stellar in goal, making 42 saves for his fifth win of the season.
