Pickering Panthers Name Corey Beer Head Coach

The Pickering Panthers are proud to announce the appointment of Corey Beer as the club’s new Head Coach ahead of the 2026-27 OJHL season.

Beer brings an extensive coaching résumé and a proven history of success and player development at multiple levels of junior hockey. His experience includes time in the OJHL, NOJHL, CSSHL, and on the international stage with Team Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge.

Most recently, Beer served as General Manager and Head Coach of the Port Hope Panthers of the PJCHL. Prior to that, he built an impressive track record with the Timmins Rock, where he compiled a 112-66-11 record as Head Coach and captured an RBC Cup National Championship in 2017. He was also named a CJHL Coach of the Year finalist in 2020 and served as Head Coach at the CJHL Top Prospects Game in 2019.

Beer has also spent time developing elite U18 talent with Okanagan Hockey Ontario Prep and previously coached within the OJHL with the Cobourg Cougars and Whitby Fury organizations.

“Very excited to be joining Pickering,” said Beer. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Sean Meyers and am thrilled to be working alongside him. This program has had great coaches in the past and a very successful history recently.”

Beer added that the opportunity to coach in the OJHL again was a major draw.

“The OJHL is a premier league with terrific people in it, something that I’m very proud to be part of once again. I’m excited for the opportunity ahead and can’t wait to get started here.”

General Manager Sean Meyers believes Beer’s leadership style and hockey background make him an ideal fit for the organization as the Panthers continue building toward sustained success.

“I’m super excited to have Corey joining us in Pickering,” said Meyers. “He has a proven track record of player development and on-ice success in the CJHL, including a national championship.”

Meyers also pointed to Beer’s passion and ability to connect with players as key reasons behind the hiring.

“I believe players will enjoy playing for a coach as passionate as Corey, and we look forward to the upcoming season.”

The Panthers organization would like to welcome Corey and his family to Pickering.
