The Buzzers opened the scoring in the first period and added another just three minutes into the second to take a 2-0 lead over Pickering. Just 25 seconds later, the Panthers’ veterans sparked the comeback. Kyle Kavc scored his fifth of the season, and before the period ended, Gabe Ciarallo tied the game at 2-2.
Pickering dominated play in the second, outshooting St. Michael’s 21-4 in the frame.
The third period was tightly contested and appeared destined for overtime. However, Matt Indovina located a loose puck during a goalmouth scramble and buried it for his 27th of the season, scoring the winner with just 29 seconds remaining in regulation. It could prove to be a pivotal goal in the Panthers’ playoff push.
Anthony Sciere earned the victory with an 18-save performance. Pickering outshot St. Michael’s 50-20 overall.
