As they have done so many other times this season, the Panthers bounced back after a previous loss to play a great game and defeat the Aurora Tigers 5-4. This was an entertaining, fast-paced game, highlighted by lots of scoring chances and good goaltending at both ends of the ice. Power plays were a big part of the game, as each team scored twice with the man advantage.
The Panthers jumped to an early lead on goals from Drew McLennan (PP) and Joseph Cadorin, but the Tigers got one back before Ryder Dagenais got his first as a Panther to make it 3-1 on a great pass from Cadorin. Aurora scored two in the second to tie the game, but Quinn Binnie got his 11th of the season to again give the Cats a one-goal lead at the second intermission.
After a strong start to the third period, Alex Colangelo (PP) put Pickering up 5-3, scoring on a goalmouth scramble. The Tigers made it 5-4 with just over a minute remaining, but the Panthers held on for the victory and the important two points.
Pickering will travel to Burlington to face the Cougars for their next game on Friday night, January 17th, at 7:30 PM.
